Nairn Four-Poster Bedstead

During the reign of Elizabeth the first, the Four Poster Bed evolved, as bed decoration in the form of bed hangings and canopies became ever richer and more elaborate.

These trends gave birth to the half–tester bed as it was then known and is still referred to today.

Essentially a canopy structure at the head of the bed would support sumptuous fabric hangings which would provide warmth and privacy for the sleeping occupants whilst suggesting opulence and status.

The Nairn is a beautiful interpretation of a Victorian design that retains the flavour of a Four Poster Bed but with this intriguing and timelessly classic variation.
